What exactly is BIG DATA ?

Everyone seems to be Chatur Ramlingum to clearly explain big data. Big data‘s Phunsuk Wangdo answer is simple act of extracting data from internet.
Now the question comes which data?
Data that will help to make probability decisions .Data that directs to definite action happening currently or happening in future.
Now whose data?
Anyone who shared something on internet. It may be you, your friend or your someone special. Wikipedia, celebrity blogs, social networking sites may seem one of the sources for big data.
How big data helps?
As the name suggests the Big Data helps Big companies and business group to remain updated according to market trend. This would eventually lead to their Big sales. These trends are identified with your mail conversation, your inbox messages, and your likes / dislikes.
Let’s take an example; you want to increase friendship with a girl in your class.
Most people, as I obsevered, will try to find her on social networking site like Facebook. You investigate her timeline, status, likes, dislikes etc. You  come to know through her post she is gonna be at XYZ Park this Sunday or she often goes to ABC Restaurant for dinner. Next step you would take is to be there at that ABC hotel /XYZ Park.
Similarly consider at your position a company which sells shoes and the girl represent everyone on internet. What they do is that they hire some analysts in Big Data and get statistics about there products. This would help them to give offers, manufacture specific types of shoes, open a shop at specific location and tempt you for buying.
This all is done on basis of what you post, like, dislike, comment and share on any social sites on internet. Your phones contain location based services which are exploited by Companies.
What about my privacy?
The moment you sign up for any social networking site your privacy is lost. You are and will be watched every time on social network.
Your smart phones get them your location
Your whatsapp get them chats about current issues.
Your blog gets them your views and describes your behavior.
Your mail gets them your contacts and conversation.
Your status helps them to plot probability of NAMO becoming PM.
Your likes/dislikes make them improve their products.
And so on….
